About Us
Vision
To be the preferred DOH advanced and comprehensive, multidisciplinary end-referral center in Dermatology in the Eastern NCR and CALABARZON area providing excellent skin care by 2028.
Mission
To promote servant leadership, provide compassionate service, practice ethical and clinical competence through training, and produce socially-relevant research and advocacy in dermatology.
History

In 1985, Dermatology at Rizal Medical Center (RizalMed) began as a section under the Department of Internal Medicine and was led by Dr. Pio Raymundo Tantiongco, the sole consultant at the time. He was succeeded by Dr. Carmela Reyes (1994–2006), followed by Dr. Francisco D. Rivera IV in 2007. Under Dr. Rivera’s leadership, the section expanded and was formally established as an independent department in 2017. That same year, the Department of Health designated RizalMed Dermatology as the regional end-referral center
for Eastern NCR and CALABARZON through the Rizal Integrated Health System.
In 2021, the department was accredited by the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ (PDS), solidifying its commitment to excellent dermatologic care. It was recognized in 2023 as one of Rizal Medical Center’s Centers of Excellence. In 2024, Dr. Cecilia Roxas-Rosete succeeded Dr. Rivera and continues to lead the department today. In a few short years, the department has expanded its services, established disease-specific centers, and built partnerships with hospitals, local governments, and organizations to improve access to high-quality dermatologic care. Among its recent milestones, the Psoriasis Center was named Specialty Center of the Year at the 2024 Healthcare Asia Awards, and the department became one of only two Philippine members of the Global Allergy and Asthma Excellence Network (GA2LEN) ADCARE.
The RizalMed Department of Dermatology remains dedicated to its pillars of service, training, and research. It continues to deliver compassionate evidence-based care, provide rigorous and inclusive dermatologic training, and engage in impactful research to shape the future of dermatology in the Philippines and beyond.
